IT’S SUMMER. CAN SCENT HELP YOU STAY COOL ?

DO YOU LOVE BURNING CANDLES BUT CAN'T FIND THAT PERFECT BALANCE BETWEEN SUMMER HEAT AND CANDLE BURNING ?

WE HEAR YOU... AND WE HAVE A FEW SUMMER SCENT HACKS TO KEEP YOU COOL THIS SUMMER.

If you can’t handle a candle right now, skip down to our DIY essential oil cooling mist. But if you are jonesing for that right summer candle, see below :-)

CANDLE BURNERS

GOOD TO KNOW

Reasons why burning essential oil candles is good in hotter weather;

1- There's none of that cloying claustrophobic fragrance, like in other candles, that will make you feel more hot! Aromatherapy (offered by essential oils only) can help you to feel cooler.
2 - Synthetic fragrances (fyi NOT in our candles) are known to be an allergen for a lot of people, and most of us know that allergies can make us feel wiped out! That plus heat, no thank you.
3 - Certain essential oils have aromatherapeutic benefits that can offer cooling effects on the body.

KNOW YOUR AROMATHERAPY

Essential oils have been shown to help activate cool sensing nerves in the skin when applied topically. It motivates similar sensations aroma therapeutically, making things feel a bit less hot. Candles are a great way to enjoy aromatherapeutic benefits - the heat moves the scent into the air, and once in the air, the scent will slowly enter the blood stream via the lungs and encourage changes via the olfactory receptors.

SO…WHAT ESSENTIAL OILS HELP US COOL DOWN ?

Eucalyptus + Lavender - top of the list, these are also the two essential oil ingredients in our Lavender Candle.

Peppermint, Spearmint, and Orange - think summer citrus and cool mints. We recommend our Bergamot Candle which includes two of these summer oil essentials - citrus and peppermint! Perfect for hot days.

Lastly, and somewhat surprisingly - Vetiver! The roots where this oil derives from grow deep into the cool earth and can provoke the same cooling sensations in our body. Try burning our Vetiver Candle on hot nights at home.
